Putussibau, W Kalimantan, Jan 20 (Antaranews Kalbar) - A passenger killed and 12 others went missing when a motorboat carrying some 24 passengers sank in Kapuas River in Nanga Seberuang Village of Kapuas Hulu District, West Kalimantan.
"The incident occurred at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday (Jan 19) overnight in Kapuas River," Kapuas Hulu Police Criminal Investigation Unit, First Police Inspector Siko said here on Sunday.
Siko explained, the boat carried around 24 passengers and nine motorized vehicles.
When the motorboat was about to cross to the dock, suddenly the boat was running aground, allegedly because of overloaded.
? "One person died, 12 people went missing and 11 passengers are currently being treated at the Seberuang Health Center," Siko explained.
According to Siko, the motorboat driver Gunawan was detained in Seberuang Sub-District Police Station. The rescue team are still searching for the missing victims.
