Pontianak, W Kalimantan, May 24 (Antaramews Kalbar) - Several international artists from various countries are ready to perform at the 21st Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) to be held in Sarawak, Malaysia, on July 13-15, 2018.

Communication Manager of the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) Gustino Basuan stated here on Thursday that the RWMF will feature talented international and local artists.

"Local artists from Serawak to perform at this event include Danai Kuwai and At Adau as well as SwarAsia Malaysia and Sada Borneo, who had participated in `Asia Got Talent` show," he stated.

Grace Nono from the Philippines, Oyme from Mordovia Republic in Russia, Elisouma from Comoros Islands, Dona Onete from Brazil, and Slobodan Trkulja and Balkanopolis from Serbia are among the international artists performing at the event.

Furthermore, Bhungar Khan Company and Raghu Dixit Project from India, Niteworks from Isle of Skye, Kevin Locke from the United States will perform at the event.

Indonesia will present Gayogayo, while Combo Ginebra from Chile, Alberto Marin from Spain, Shanren from China, Djeli Moussa Conde from Guinea, Naedrum from Korea, Warato`o from the Solomon Islands, Yallah Bye! from Tunisia, and Volume from Poland will enliven the event.

Several performers in one group hail from different countries and continents. For instance, GuoGan & Aly Keita, a combination of China and Ivory Coast, also Cuatro Minimal that comprises musicians from Mexico, Korea, and Japan; and Arat Kilo, with Mamani Keita & Mike Ladd from France, Mali, and the United States.

One of the popular activities at the RWMF is an interactive drumming session with 1drum.org & Friends, which is growing in number this year. Chingay from Penang, Malaysia, is among those attending the event.

This year, short films on different subjects covering music, arts, and social issues will be showcased.

The tickets to RWMF 2018 for adult visitors are priced at 131.2 Malaysian ringgit for a day at the festival.

Children in the age group of seven and 11 years are required to pay 67.6 Malaysian ringgit, while the special family one-day package is priced at 270.4 Malaysian ringgit.

The venue of the RWMF is located in the Sarawak Cultural Village and Damai Central, which is an about 45-minute drive from Kuching. This event will be held by STB and supported by Malaysia`s Ministry of Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports of Sarawak, and AirAsia, as the partner airline.
