Pontianak, W Kalimantan, July 7 (Antaranews Kalbar) - A joint team of rescuers have evacuated a total of 668 passengers of the Dharma Fery II ship, which ran aground at the Estuary of Pawan River in Indonesia`s West Kalimantan provincial District of Ketapang.

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), we have successfully carried out the evacuation process jointly with related parties," Search and Rescue (SAR) Chief of Pontianak, Hery Marantika, said here on Saturday.

Marantika stated that the Dharma Fery II ship, which sailed from the Tanjung Emas port in Semarang (Central Java) to the Sukabangun port in Ketapang District, ran aground at the estuary of Pawan River due to receding water levels.

All passengers have been successfully evacuated safely using RIB Pos SAR Ketapang, including fast boats.

Upon receiving the information, SAR, along with the relevant agencies, directly evacuated the passengers.

The evacuation process, which started at 05.00 a.m. in the morning until 02:00 p.m. local time, involved a joint SAR team of 30 people.

Of the 668 passengers, there were 615 adults, 45 children, and eight toddlers.
