Pontianak (Antaranews Kalbar) - A total of 2,765 foreign tourists visited West Kalimantan province in January 2018, down 49.21 percent from a month earlier, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Office in West Kalimantan said.

The number of tourist arrivals in January 2018 also declined 18.20 percent compared to the same month last year, Chief of the BPS Office in West Kalimantan, Piitono said here on Sunday.

Pitono said 1,495 of the 2,765 foreign tourists visited West Kalimantan via Entikong entry point in January 2018, falling 46.45 percent from 2,792 in December 2017.

"The number of tourists entering the province through Supadio entry point reached 1,270, down 52.11 percent compared to 2.652 in December 2017," he said.

The decline in the number of tourist arrivals caused the room occupancy rate of star hotels in January 2018 to decline 16.79 points to 38.32 percent from 55.11 percent in December 2017.

"Even the room occupancy rate of non-star hotels reached only 28.80 percent, down 8.82 points from 37.62 percent in December 2017," he said.

The foreign tourists` length of stay at star hotels in the province in January 2018 averaged 1.58 days compared to 1.68 days the month before, he said.
