Pontianak (Antaranews Kalbar) - Floods hit 13 villages in three sub-districts in Landak District, West Kalimantan Province, and forced 88 inhabitants of Ngabang Sub-district, to evacuate their homes on Sunday.

Flooding affected five villages in Ngabang Sub-district, five villages in Kuala Behe Sub-district, and three villages in Air Besar Sub-district, dr Karolin Margret Natasa, the Landak district head, said here, Monday.

Natasa declared an alert status of disaster emergency and instructed local officers to help flood victims optimally.

She visited the flood victims being accommodated in Ngabang military command post, and checked relief aid such as food, clean water, medicines, and blankets that had been distributed to the displaced residents.

The district head urged other inhabitants being trapped in flooding, to evacuate their homes and to join those taking refuge the in the military compound.
