Badau, W Kalimantan, March 12 (Antaranews Kalbar) - The Badau District Commerce Market located in the Indonesia-Malaysia border region in Kapuas Hulu area, West Kalimantan, was inaugurated and is expected to become operational in the near future.
"We are grateful for the inauguration of the commercial market, and we could boost economic growth of the local people in the border area," Kapuas Hulu Regent Abang Muhammad Nasir noted while inaugurating the Badau District Commerce Market here on Monday.
Nasir expected the people to utilize the commercial market optimally and not as a residence.
The presence of the commercial market at the border is one of the government`s steps to boost the economic growth of the local people.
Meanwhile, Head of the Kapuas Hulu Trade Agency Abang Chairul Saleh explained that 12 commercial markets were ready to be occupied by the traders.
"The commerce market will be operated in the near future," he remarked.
After signing the Niaga market inscription, the regent of Kapuas Hulu along with the head of the Regional House Representative of Kapuas Hulu was accompanied by the vice chairman of the DPRD of Kapuas Hulu and the officials in Kapuas Hulu District.
Earlier, Indonesia and Malaysia had agreed to build a legal umbrella to control the regulating cross-border trade. The agreement aimed to guarantee the needs of the population at the border.
"Trade is an important issue that is always discussed during every second annual consultation of the heads of state due to the important roles in increasing economic cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia," Trade Minister of Indonesia Enggartiasto Lukita stated as quoted from the official website of CNN on www.cnnindonesia.com.
