Mempawah (Antaranews Kalbar) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero)/IPC targeted the first phase of Kijing Station, Pontianak Port, which located in the sub- district of Sungai Kunyit, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan, can be operated in 2019.
"As one of the national strategic projects, Pontianak Port Kijing Station will become the largest international standart port in Kalimantan. The exsistence of this station will strenghten inter-island connectivity, as well as in bringing Indonesia ideas into becomes a world maritim axis," said President Director of IPC, Elvyn G Masassya, in his speech at the launching of Kijing Station, in Mempawah, on Wednesday (11/4).
He added, the construction of this station is a development from Pontianak Port as a solution for the limitation of land and high level of river sedimentation which causes difficulity for large vessels to lean.
Kijing Station has a draft of -15 mLws, so that large vessels can lean on and doing cargo handling activities for maximise the potential of Kalimantan's natural resources, especially in West Kalimantan.
Later on this station will be developed with digital port concept which equipped by modern cargo handling equipment so accordance with IPC perspective in becomes a Superior World Class Port Manager in Operations and Services.
Elvyn explained the achievement of IPC in 2017, where the company success in managed income in the amount of Rp 10,9 billion which is the highest income during 25 years of the company.
2017 is also become an important milestones in history of seaport in Indonesia, because for the first time after 160 years of operation, Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta can serve container vessels with a capacity of 10 thousand TEUs.
"This is the largest vessel that ever docked in Indonesia. This large vessel serving Java - America Express (JAX) direct call route, which sailing every weeks from Tanjung Priok Port to Los Angeles and Oakland, USA," Elvyn said.
Regarding to the operational of Kijing Port, Elvyn is optimistic it will boost the growth of goods flow, and impact to economic growth as well as the development of plantation and mining in Kalimantan.
Kijing Port is targeted to be operated in 2019
