Pontianak (ANTARA) - Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (Gapki) was truly support and ready to anticipate the forest and land fires (Karhutla) in Indonesia.
“As a palm oil companies which incorporated in Gapki, we already and still continue to anticipate about Karhutla. A number of steps and efforts are being made continuously,” said the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (Gapki), Susanto Yang at 3rd Borneo Forum in Pontianak, on Friday.
Susanto explained that one of the efforts was involved the community besides of the internal team such as Karhutla anticipation and mitigation training. The training has done and it will be continues maximized
“We keep improving the effort to preventing Karhutla happen around the concession by established a Desa Siaga Api (Fire Alert Villages) in various regions with various names. This activity will be improve and continue in the future," he said. His team was strongly supports the police and regional government for preventive measures in order to stop Karhutla.
“Our togetherness efforts to realize free forestry in Indonesia must become our commitment together and we are ready for that. Anticipation steps will still continue, " he said.
Susanto considered that the presence of the Kijing International Port in Mempawah, West Kalimantan will provide a new chance for the efficiency and enhancement of West Kalimantan CPO competitiveness.
“The presence of the port can export the CPO directly without having to go through other ports as happened so far. Through the Kijing Port the competitiveness will be higher,” he said.
Based on the direction of West Kalimantan Governor, Sutarmidji at the opening of 3rd Borneo Forum on March 20, 2019 in Pontianak, the oil palm plantation industry still need to improve. The improvements in oil palm governance must be carried out to the maximum.
"Concerning about the West Kalimantan Governor direction, we will looking for the requirements and others. Furthermore, we will arrange the work program. We will also support the independent village program that will be used by the Governor of West Kalimantan," he said.
